Docked: Once the tool cart has arrived at the docking station, it is loaded by »roboSet«. AUTOMATICALLY HEAT SHRINK TOOLS PRECISELY TO LENGTH Heat shrinking and unclamping tools is an especially complex process, and one that is especially easy to automate. The CNC controlled axes on the »redomatic« presetting, measuring and heat-shrink machine make this application possible. The complete tool or single components are delivered to a transfer station. The robot grips the complete tool and identifies it using an applied code or an integrated RFID chip. The tool data are accessed by the database and available to the system. The robot inserts the tools into the unclamping station. Clamping the tool, setting the induction coil and lowering the coil are all handled fully automatically based on the read in tool data. Now the robot only needs to remove the tool after heating, then the tool holder is approved. The heat shrinking process is more complex, but can also be handled automatically. The robot selects a tool holder and places it in the spindle of the »redomatic«, where it is clamped. Using the »masterPiece« setting adapter inserted into the tool holder, the tool height is measured and a limit pin is moved to the target height. After inductive heating, the robot inserts the tool into the tool holder. It drops to the limit pin. After cooling, the tool will be exactly the correct length.
