The robot grips a tool from the pallet and places it into the tool holder. The measuring procedure starts automatically – either as a complete controlling process, or for selected parameters. Then the robot removes the measured tool and inserts the next tool into the spindle. When the measured tool is removed, its measuring results are also available. The robot can also sort tools by quality and place them on the pallets using the pre-defined tool tolerances. Here as well, a specific tool is assigned to each space on the pallet – facilitating tracking. This means each individual tool can be assigned a test report and, if necessary, a certification later on. In addition, it is possible to output a batch protocol depending on the customer’s requests and requirements. It is even possible to stipulate a custom layout for the protocol, with the customer’s own logo and with graphics and tables pre- pared according to requirements. These kinds of open solutions are typically part of a complex production process where individual steps are integrated together. They are characterized by a large number of interfaces and transfer stations. With »roboSet«, ZOLLER has created an open system that can be integrated into any automation solution or transfer line – optimally adapted to the specific inter- face or transfer station, and expandable with modules. This means a cleaning and marking station, for instance, can be added to the shrinking process. AUTOMATIC TOOL CONTROLLING What works for the tool user needs to work for the tool manufacturer as well: thus, an automatic solution for tool inspection was developed.
