Another clever method for minimizing ma
chine downtimes was developed jointly
by ZOLLER, FANUC, and SCHUNK. The tool
is clearly identified by a DataMatrix code
on the SCHUNK tool holder. Depending on
its status, notes are added indicating
the next steps such as “replace tool” or
“set and measure.”
1) Scan into the Machine:
The tool’s service life is up, and it
must be replaced with a new tool.
2) Scan in the Warehouse:
The storage location of the new tool
is displayed.
3) Scan on the Presetter:
The new tool is measured and
new actual data is saved in the
host computer system.
4) Scan into the Machine:
The new actual data is automatically
transmitted through the host computer
to the machine controller.
Tooling times are reduced significantly,
and crashes caused by incorrect tool
data are entirely avoided.
